Scholarships
Incoming Freshmen
There are several sources of scholarships for incoming freshmen. The deadline to apply for scholarships through Student Financial Aid and the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships is December 1, 2008. You can apply for these scholarships using the ApplyTexas Application for Admissions and Scholarships. Go to http://scholarships.tamu.edu to see helpful tips on completing your application.
Notice that additional documentation is required for scholarships offered through the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships. All documentation must be received by the deadline. Carefully note the deadline for each scholarship and do not wait to apply! If you apply late, you run the risk of not completing your application in time for consideration.
Mays Business School
Mays offers merit-based and academic scholarships for incoming freshmen through University Honors. To apply for these, you must have fully completed both the Application and Scholarships side of the dual ApplyTexas application as well as provide University Honors with supporting documents. These documents include a Student Profile Sheet and another copy of your transcript to be mailed to the University Honors office. This process not only places you in the reviewing pool for Mays but also for other non-major specific Honors scholarships. Eligibility is based on an SAT I score of 1300 or better (600 each for Critical Reading and Math). The deadline for applications for scholarships offered by Mays is December 1st.
Department of Student Financial Aid
Texas A&M's Department of Student Financial Aid oversees numerous university-level scholarships. Click here to learn more about the Opportunity Award, Regents' Scholarships, Valedictorian Tuition Exemption, Terry Scholarships, and other opportunities.

Freshmen
The only scholarship available through Mays Business School for current freshmen is the ConocoPhillips Spirit Scholarship. The scholarship is open to students interested in a career in the energy business. The deadline for application is 5 P.M. on October 31, 2008.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
The ConocoPhillips Spirit Scholarship is also open to current sophomores and juniors interested in the energy business. A minimum GPA of 3.25 is required. The deadline for application is 5 P.M. on October 31, 2008.
In addition, Mays Business School offers more than 100 scholarships for qualified sophomore, junior and senior business students. The application for current students is available in early January each year with a deadline in early February. Award decisions are made and students are notified in March. No additional Mays Business School scholarships are available outside of this time frame.
How do you know if you qualify?
- You are a full-time (taking 12 or more hours) undergraduate business student who is currently enrolled in Mays and will continue in spring 2009 as an undergraduate at Mays.
- You have a GPR of 3.5 or greater - most of the scholarships we award require a minimum 3.5 GPR.
- You are classified as a U2, U3, or U4 at the time of application.
You will not be eligible for scholarships if you are:
- A fifth year Professional Program student enrolled as a graduate student effective fall 2008 - you are, instead, eligible to apply for graduate scholarships.
- A freshman (classified as U1 during the application period).
- A student graduating at the end of the spring, summer, or fall 2008 semester.
Application
A single application is used for all available Mays scholarships. By submitting this application, you are considered for all Mays scholarships for which you are eligible. These scholarships are available to students classified as U2, U3, or U4 at the time of application.
Application Deadline
Your completed application must be submitted online no later than 5 P.M. on February 6, 2009. The application form will be unavailable after the deadline. Award decisions are made in early March and we will notify all applicants of their status.
If you have any questions, contact Kris Morley, in the Business Honors Program Office, 242 Wehner, at 979-845-4873 or scholarships@mays.tamu.edu.
Scholarship Payments
Scholarship payments are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. If you are graduating early, you will be awarded only the fall semester payment, not the full scholarship. All scholarships require that you be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours. Exceptions to this are made for graduating seniors and students completing internships.
- Graduating seniors enrolled in their last semester are required to be enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours.
- If completing an internship, the scholarship will be applied to the semester in which the student is completing the internship if the student is enrolled in 9 or more A&M semester credit hours that semester. This requirement can be met by completing a minimester(s), Texas A&M University on-line courses, or independent study in absentia.
- If the student is completing a fall or spring internship and is not enrolled in 9 or more semester credit hours during the that semester, the scholarship may be applied to the summer session of that academic year assuming the student is a full time student during the summer. A full time student is defined as one enrolled in 12 or more hours for the summer.
- One-half of the scholarship will be forfeited if the student does not meet items 2 or 3 above. All scholarships must be paid in the academic year for which they were awarded.
If you have any questions, contact Kris Morley, in the Business Honors Program Office, 242 Wehner, at 979-845-4873 or scholarships@mays.tamu.edu.
